Generally speaking, fiber sales will approximately offset the maintainence costs you have each year. (It's livestock sales that actually produce the significant income in the Alpaca business)

You can also try another route to sell alpaca fiber. COntact individual weavers and spinners. Many seek out the finest fiber for their yarn and fabrics, and will deal one on one with alpaca ranchers.

Some weavers even buy fiber or yarn from a particular animal – much the same way that knitters look for yarn from the same dye lot for consistent color!
